Talya Brookman is an abstract expressionist painter. She attended the prestigious and exclusive Pratt Institute of Art in New York where she pursued an undergraduate degree in Fine Art.

Talya works in various mediums with a focus on large scale oils and watercolours. Since childhood she has doodled with interconnecting lines and shapes, which over the years have formalised into the organic landscapes now typical of her style. When painting Talya visualises objects and forms found in nature, such as cells, veins, roots, wings but reimagines them in a new dimension. Her art communicates a connectedness to the elements surrounding and within us.

Talya is a restless creative, she is always striving for an ideal, attempting to bring order to chaos. Each of her artworks reflect this process: she begins with a random application of colour and from there builds form and structure based on subtle shapes and zones.

Talya was born in London but moved to Australia and then Los Angeles with her family before finally settling in Sydney in 2009. Her art has been internationally exhibited and her works are included in several established private collections.
